In a brief video launched Wednesday morning to USPTA members, USPTA CEO and Govt Director John Embree introduced he’ll be retiring from the group on the finish of 2023. He has been within the place since October 2012. Embree mentioned the USPTA Board of Administrators can be hiring a search agency to seek out his alternative.
The announcement comes following three days of conferences this previous weekend in Orlando by USPTA management, together with the board of administrators, government administrators and the chief committee.
“Throughout these conferences, I made an announcement that I used to be going to step down and retire from the uspta on the finish of this calendar yr,” Embree mentioned within the video.
“I need to ensure that to set the file straight. That is my resolution…. I’ve been on this trade 50 years. I began instructing tennis once I was in school in 1973. I began [my role at the USPTA] in October of 2012, so this can be my eleventh yr right here. And I’ll be turning 70 in August. so it’s time for a change. Time for a change for me and time for a change for the affiliation. Time for them to discover a new and recent perspective to steer this group shifting ahead.
“And there’s a succession plan. The USPTA board of administrators can be hiring a search agency and can vet candidates in the course of the summer season, and hopefully a candidate can be established someday late this fall. And I’ll actually assist them with this transition till the top of the yr.”
“Please make a degree of coming [to the USPTA World Conference, Sept. 24-28, in Orlando]. I look ahead to seeing all of you, I look ahead to thanking you to your service to the group, and I need to categorical my private appreciation for all that you just do to develop tennis in your group. Thanks.”
