Staff Canada has been drawn towards Germany within the quarter-finals of the 2024 Davis Cup, the ITF confirmed on Thursday. The Remaining 8 Knockout Stage will happen in Malaga, Spain from November 19-24.
Canada, ranked No.3, final confronted Germany (No. 5) within the quarter-finals of their 2022 Davis Cup title-winning marketing campaign. A singles victory for Félix Auger-Aliassime over Oscar Otte and Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil’s doubles win towards Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz secured their passage into the semi-finals.
Led by captain Frank Dancevic, the Canadian crew that includes Auger-Aliassime, Shapovalov, Gabriel Diallo, Alexis Galarneau and Pospisil sealed its place within the Remaining 8 throughout final week’s Group Stage in Manchester, UK. They received all three ties, towards Argentina, Finland and Nice Britain respectively, to high Group D.
Three-time Davis Cup champions Germany, in the meantime, completed second in Group C with a 2-1 file having misplaced to group winners the USA and beating Slovakia and Chile in Zhuhai, China.
The winner of the tie between Canada and Germany, set to happen between November 19-21, will face both Spain or the Netherlands, who contest the opposite quarter-final within the backside half of the draw, within the semi-finals.
