World no.1 Novak Djokovic continued his clay-court season on Friday on the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, when he defeated Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 to succeed in the third spherical in Rome.
The Serbian star dictated play when it mattered most in his second ATP H2H assembly with the French fortunate loser, to triumph after 85 minutes.
“Match play is totally different to practise units,” Djokovic mentioned. “I performed a lefty and I’ve not practised with a lefty shortly, so it took me just a little time to regulate to the totally different rotations of the ball. Corentin is a really gifted participant. He has nice palms and could be very unpredictable. You don’t know what comes up subsequent, so I needed to keep targeted, which I did and it’s a good opening match.”
Match statistics: winners (21-13), unforced errors (13-20), complete factors gained (61-40).
Novak, who has gained six titles in Rome, will play no.29 seed Alejandro Tabilo (29) within the third spherical.
The Chilean eradicated Yannick Hanfmann (GER) in straight units 6-3, 7-6.
