Fred McGriff took his rightful place within the Baseball Corridor of Fame Sunday and, throughout his induction speech, shared a captivating story about holding his unanimous election a secret from his household.
After receiving what he known as the “greatest” telephone name of his life, McGriff placed on his poker face ready for his spouse and daughter to listen to the momentous announcement on tv, like everybody else.
“I performed calm. Like I knew nothing. I simply informed them, ‘Hey, they will announce who bought into the Baseball Corridor of Fame at eight o’clock on MLB Community, so let’s flip it on,'” McGriff stated.
