CLEVELAND, Ohio – College of Chicago’s males’s basketball program notched its first win in College Athletic Convention (UAA) motion on Sunday, defeating No. 19 Case Western Reserve 85-77.
UChicago raced out to an eight-point halftime lead and held off the Spartans down the stretch for its first victory over a ranked opponent of the season. Bryce Hopkins led the scoring effort with 19 factors and added 10 rebounds for a double-double. All 5 starters for the Maroons scored in double-digits as UChicago shot 47.5 p.c from the sphere and went 19-for-24 from the free throw line.
Elliot Paschal added 14 factors off the bench in 17 minutes. The Maroons managed the paint, profitable the rebounding battle 47-42 and totaling seven blocks as a workforce. Defensively, UChicago held Case Western Reserve to 36.8 p.c capturing from the sphere and simply 26.7 p.c capturing from distance.
The Maroons can have one other UAA highway weekend, taking up Emory and Rochester on Jan. 27 and Jan. 29, respectively.
