Not all that way back, Kayla
Harrison appeared able to
depart the grind of the Skilled Fighters League season
format within the rearview mirror on the conclusion of the 2022
marketing campaign.
It seems that sentiment has modified.
Harrison revealed on “The
MMA Hour” that she hoped to participate within the PFL’s 2023 season
format. The 2-time Olympic gold medalist received two PFL
championships at 155 kilos earlier than being upset by Larissa
Pacheco within the 2022 last. It was Harrison’s first defeat in 16
skilled MMA bouts.
“I needed to be within the season,” Harrison stated. “In fact I needed
to be within the season. The second the event was over, the second
I misplaced, I wrote down my targets. I used to be like: ‘145-pound champ. Going
to be within the season. Avenge my loss.’ I had all my key areas of
focus, and that’s not within the playing cards for me. That’s not what they
need to do. They need me to battle on the pay-per-view.
Harrison added that she has two fights remaining on her present PFL
contract, which can have contributed to her being overlooked of the
present season.
“I don’t know. I believe I receives a commission some huge cash. I believe that they
really feel like (the season format) will not be the easiest way to make the most of me. I
suppose they need to put me on a pay-per-view card towards an enormous
title.”
The PFL will debut the ladies’s featherweight division on Friday
with a card headlined by Pacheco vs. Julia Budd.
Harrison, in the meantime, is left to await phrase on the league’s plans
for its pay-per-view division.
“I’ve been somewhat bit depressed about it,” Harrison stated. “It’s
onerous to look at one thing you helped construct. Regardless of how woke up
and peaceable I’m, the world remains to be transferring ahead and I’m
sitting proper right here. Typically that’s onerous. I need to battle, I don’t
simply need to speak about preventing. I need to battle, so it’s
irritating.”
