Joe Lacob stated he expects each Klay Thompson and Steve Kerr to stay with the Golden State Warriors “for a very long time” throughout an interview with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.
Thompson is ready to be an unrestricted free agent subsequent offseason.
“We’ve had some very transient discussions at this level along with his agent. However they’re very, very early. … I absolutely anticipate that we’ll have some substantial discussions quickly someday and we’ll see if we are able to’t put one thing collectively that permits Klay to be right here for a very long time, which we clearly would love him to be,” Lacob informed Kawakami.
Lacob additionally stated that he is had early discussions about extending Kerr, whose contract can be set to run out after this season.
“Very early. There’s loads of time. Steve is rather like Klay, we would like Steve to be right here for a very long time,” stated Lacob.
Lacob added that it was his aim for the Warriors to get below the second apron by subsequent July.
