UK welterweight Conor Benn shared an explosive reality about his return to the WBC Rankings after testing optimistic twice for a banned substance.
Benn had been quoted as stating he’d eat thirty or extra eggs per day throughout coaching. Nonetheless, the undefeated Briton now says he didn’t use that clarification as his protection.
“The Destroyer” benefited from the doubt in a WBC investigation that couldn’t discover proof that Benn had knowingly ingested clomiphene.

Conor Benn on WBC findings
“I’m grateful for the last word discovering [from the WBC. It was the right decision. It was the only one I was willing to accept,” said Benn.
“The easy option would have been to accept a six-month ban, save me a huge legal bill, and move on. But my reputation and family name are worth more than that.
“My only frustration is the manner in which I’ve been cleared [with a UKAD investigation still ongoing]. It has appeared to create additional questions and add additional gas to baseless unfavourable hypothesis.
“Having now had an opportunity to digest, I needed to set out my place in full and clarify within the easiest phrases potential [as to] why I’m harmless.
“As you’ll have gathered from my posts and feedback over the previous few months, I’ve all the time been extraordinarily assured that I might be cleared. It is because the entire proof and knowledge that got here to gentle throughout our investigation into how this occurred proves what I already knew – that I’m harmless.
“Nonetheless, due to ongoing authorized proceedings, I’ve been repeatedly suggested to not say something. Conserving silent after I had this proof in my possession and listening to ignorant, uninformed commentary was one of many hardest components of this course of.
“Even following the WBC’s assertion, I may have simply stated to my crew I might not keep silent any longer and need to let the details be recognized.”
The egg scenario
Delving deeper into his conversations with the WBC over eggs, Benn continued: “In my protection to the WBC and the 270-page report offered to them, at no level did I point out that I failed any VADA exams due to contaminated eggs.
“As a part of its prolonged investigation, the WBC instructed its personal consultants to evaluation my dietary supplements and weight-reduction plan. They concluded that egg contamination was the most certainly trigger.
“These consultants have seen this situation arises in elite athletes throughout different sports activities. I’ve no purpose to query their evaluation when it concludes I’m not a cheat.”
Benn’s revelation that the WBC have been those who instructed the explanation for his failed exams is an odd one. Whether or not that’s a widespread apply with the WBC is unknown.
However earlier high-profile instances involving Canelo Alvarez, David Benavidez, and Luis Nery come to thoughts. They have been all WBC champions who shortly obtained their careers again on monitor. This raises eyebrows about what these conferences entail.
Thus far, the WBC has not commented any additional on Benn’s case. These concerned await the outcomes of a UK Anti-Doping Company investigation supervised by the British Boxing Board of Management in affiliation with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Company, which administered the exams.
If these findings come again any otherwise from these of the WBC, Benn may nonetheless face issues transferring ahead.
