As Fox Sports activities’ Ralph Vacchiano writes, Daniels seems “entrenched” because the Commanders’ beginning quarterback. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner took a lot of the first-team reps throughout final week’s necessary minicamp, and Vacchiano says there was no indication that may change when coaching camp opens subsequent month.
New GM Adam Peters zeroed in on Daniels as quickly as he started to look at the rookie’s faculty sport tape, and Daniels has lived as much as the hype in the course of the Commanders’ offseason work. Per Vacchiano, Daniels had an “excellent spring,” and each his passing potential and working potential had been on full show.
Daniels’ work ethic was one of many attributes that offered Peters on the previous LSU passer, and head coach Dan Quinn and Professional Bowl wideout Terry McLaurin each cited that work ethic when discussing Daniels with the media.
“Not solely does the bodily traits present up, it is the work ethic,” Quinn stated. “I believe that via the years and thru the season, you guys will really feel that and see that.”
“He’s going to be a very good participant due to the time and the work that he places in,” McLaurin added. “I don’t assume I’ve had a younger quarterback that basically has are available and, throughout the first week, he’s like, ‘Hey, can we (work on) this route?’ or, ‘Let me get this rep after apply?’ It’s thrilling for me.”
To be clear, Quinn stated no selections have been made about who the beginning quarterback can be (by way of ESPN’s John Keim). Vacchiano, although, believes that no matter what Quinn says publicly, the job is Daniels’ to lose, and the staff doesn’t count on him to lose it.
Daniels, who not too long ago put pen to paper on his four-year, $37.75M rookie contract, stated, “I ain’t a star quarterback but. … I nonetheless received a protracted strategy to go to be the place I wish to be. (I) attempt to excellent it, attempt to be a perfectionist as a lot as potential.”
Apparently, he’ll get loads of alternative to excellent his craft with the first-team offense when coaching camp rolls round. At this level, it will be a shock if he’s not underneath heart in Week 1.
